Technion Update

Dear Members of the Technion Community,
Based on the assessment conducted today and in line with the instructions from the Home Front Command, the Technion management has decided on the following measures:

– Activities at the Technion campuses in Haifa will proceed tomorrow, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, unchanged.

– October dormitory rent has been waived for students called up for reserve service.

– The Human Resources departments of the Technion and the Technion Research & Development Foundation sent gift packages to the families of Technion and Technion R&D Foundation reservists.

– Daycare for children of the Technion faculty and staff has successfully opened today. About 150 children are taking part. The daycare is being held in the safe rooms of the Canada building, 8:00-15:30. Children of students, faculty and staff of the Ruth & Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine have joined the daycare of the Rambam Healthcare Campus, which is run by volunteer students from the faculty.

– The Technion Security & Emergency Unit distributed two-way radios and other equipment to the various faculties and units. These were purchased through donations, in order to improve the Technion’s preparedness for an emergency situation.
